Flash Friday (Saturday) – Void

2015/01/img_2283-1.jpg

Follow me

The angel whispered
Luring me in with his song

I’ll guide you over
You don’t need them
They can’t help you any more

So follow me
I’ll grant you safe passage
There’s no way you can go wrong

His voice it was smooth
Like fine royal silks
His eyes
Morning’s new blue sky

His lips
They drew me in
Tempted me
Enticed me

Led me to believe a lie

All his promises
His voice of gods
His eyes of blue
His lips of purest red

All a lie

My eyes deceived me
Showed me what I wanted

But the truth?

Dark as the night
Cruel as lashes

I did follow him
And now it’s too late

I turned back though
Just for one moment

Nothing left of before
Nothing onwards either

Just deafening silence
And empty darkness
Without even those lie baring lips

The ones which had spoken
Under many false pretences

Just to bring me in

Forever

I didn’t finish this one in time to enter it but I thought I’d share anyway! Thanks for reading,

Flash! Friday (Saturday) – Naughty or Nice?

“Santa, this isn’t a party here.” PC Jones sighed with frustration, “there is no need to dance for your mug-shot.”

“Yes,” Santa replied with a grin, still with his left foot pointed and arms in the air, “but seeing as you insist on doing this every time officer I may as well make it fun for me!” He moved for his side photo.

Jones rolled his eyes, “if you stopped pranking us we wouldn’t have to keep taking you in.”

“It’s only a bit of fun!” Santa giggled as the light flashed for his second photo, “I did no harm!”

Jones raised an eyebrow, “You painted the outside of the police station red and green!”

“Bricks just really aren’t that festive!” He retorted, his grin widening.

“How though? You’re not even four inches tall!”

“I’m Santa Clause, and I have a job to do! Merry Christmas to you!” With that he clicked his fingers and disappeared leaving a shower of glitter to rain down on PC Jones.

Merry Christmas, and thanks for reading!

Flash! Friday (Saturday) – Broken Spirit

This is my response to Rebekah Postupak’s Flash! Friday Challenge for this week.

I have a habit of leaving my wine glass on the balcony railing. You’d always warn me against it – something about the glass falling and breaking on the rough concrete below.

I’d tell you “It’s just glass. There are plenty more in the house.”

“There are only so many. They’re running out. Every glass broken equals one less to make memories with.”

“A smashed glass makes memories just as well, possibly even better than a whole one.”

“Maybe you’re right. Maybe you’re not.”

You told the truth. I know that now.
Too many broken glasses.
We ran out.

And just like those broken glasses.
I lost you too.

Down, you fell.
Crushed into the concrete.

I realise now.
That you’d tried to tell me.

You weren’t afraid of the glass smashing.
You feared the distance you’d fall.

And without thinking I brought it closer.
For that I’m so, so sorry.

Thank you for reading,
